Subspace Identification – A Markov Parameter Approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
Estimating observability matrices or state sequences is the central component of existing subspace identification methods. In this paper a different approach, in which Markov parameters are first estimated under general input excitation, is proposed. The prominent difference of this approach is that a three-block arrangement of data matrices is used. It is shown that one advantage of this approach over other subspace algorithms is that several unbiased estimating procedures can be carried out. One immediate application is to obtain balanced or nearly balanced models directly from the estimated Markov parameters. Another application is that with the estimated Markov parameters, consistently initialised Kalman filter state sequences can be obtained, from which the system matrices can be easily determined without bias. Performance of the proposed algorithms is investigated in two case studies which are based on real data taken from two industrial systems.

متن کاملFault Detection and Estimation based on Closed-loop Subspace Identification for Linear Parameter Varying Systems
This paper presents a data driven solution of the Fault Identification approach Connected to Subspace Identification (FICSI) for Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) systems. The proposed solution links system identification to fault detection and estimation in affine LPV systems. As an extension of the model-based FICSI-LPV, the data driven solution is also formulated based on the affine LPV model s...
متن کاملSubspace Identification of Local 1D Homogeneous Systems
This paper studies the local subspace identification of 1D homogeneous networked systems. The main challenge lies at the unmeasurable interconnection signals between neighboring subsystems. Since there are many unknown inputs to the concerned local system, the corresponding identification problem is semi-blind. To cope with this problem, a nuclear norm optimization based subspace identification...

Decentralized data processing has the benefit of improving wireless monitoring system scalability, reducing the amount of wireless communications, and reducing overall power consumption. In this study, a system identification strategy for single-input multi-output (SIMO) subspace system identification is proposed based on Markov parameters. The method is specifically customized for embedment wi...
متن کاملAccelerating Mcmc with Active Subspaces
The Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is the computational workhorse for Bayesian inverse problems. However, MCMC struggles in high-dimensional parameter spaces, since its iterates must sequentially explore a high-dimensional space for accurate inference. This struggle is compounded in physical applications when the nonlinear forward model is computationally expensive. One approach to acce...
